Kids in South Walton are lucky to have some great shopping choices for fun toys spread along the beach neighborhoods of Scenic Hwy 30A. Parents can also find the perfect clothes and costumes to keep their children in the latest fashions in these same shops. Of course there are more, but we want to highlight three of our favorites.
If you are anywhere near Rosemary Beach, Gigi’s Fabulous Kids’ Fashions and Toys is a favorite shop for kids. Gigi’s encourages kids and “kids at heart” to stay for a while. There is so much eye-candy in this store that you are sure to find something for every kid in your life. Be sure to spot the electric train making its rounds above your head as it steams its way throughout the store.
If you are in or near WaterColor, be sure that you shop at Little Red for the children in your life. Little Red is located in WaterColor Crossing on Scenic Hwy 395, a few shops down from Publix and Pizza by the Sea. Recently opened is a second Little Red store located in the Shops of Grayton, just north of Scenic Hwy 30A from Grayton Beach. Little Red has a good selection of children’s clothing with great brands like “Tea.” You will also find a strong selection of educational toys and some toys just for fun. Mom will also eye some accessories for herself. Keep your kids smart and dressed in the latest fashions when you shop at Little Red.
Seaside is the perfect beach neighborhood for families, including those with small children. Located in the heart of town, Duckies Shop of Fun is the best place to find toys and gifts for kids of all ages. If you have any trouble finding Duckies, just ask any kid in Seaside. Chances are if they haven’t already shopped there, they are on their way.
Home on 30A loves that all of these fun kids shops loves kids so much and has the latest trends in fun fashion and toys. They welcome and embrace kids and have a great understanding of children, which always make the parents happy. Each store is an integral part of each beach community and you don’t have to wait until you visit in person to support these stores. Each has some selections available online. If you have kids or know someone who does, you will want to find and shop at these stores when you arrive at the beach. Entertained kids are very happy kids.

Two new restaurants pull diners from both east and west ends of 30A. We are excited to have new dining options on 30A this spring.
Edward’s, located south of 30A at 66 Main Street in Rosemary Beach, is now open for lunch and dinner Tuesday – Saturday, and on Sunday, you will find Edward’s open for brunch.
Local Catch Bar & Grill, located at 3711 West County Highway 30A in Blue Mountain Beach, is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
Edward’s
Edward’s Chef/Owner, Edward Reese, is a seasoned favorite on 30A. The menu is heavily influenced by southern coastal foods, including produce grown locally in South Walton by Mac Farms and fresh local shrimp. Some of our favorites are the Steamed Mussels, Edward’s Grilled Salmon Salad, Fish Tacos, and the Simple Grilled Grouper. The atmosphere is casual, yet refined, with open courtyard seating as well as indoor seating.
Be sure to like Edward’s on facebook, but most importantly, stop by for lunch or dinner and like them in person by enjoying a wonderful meal in a great setting!
Local Catch Bar & Grill
Co-owners, Adam Yellin (Executive Chef) and Jimmy Hasser (General Manager) team up to open Local Catch Bar & Grill in Blue Mountain Beach. With simple ingredients and generous portions, “Local Catch” is sure to hook you in to dining. The atmosphere is very casual and appeals to locals and visitors alike. For a full review of Local Catch Bar and Grill, please visit one of the best resources around for dining on 30A, 30Aeats.com. Be sure to find, Local Catch Has Coastal Cuisine With A Southern Twist to read Susan’s review.
The Premier Property Group is changing the face of 30A real estate with a new logo, which highlights “premier,” since the PPG is the premier real estate company on 30A. The PPG has also launched the Home Search App for the iPhone, iPad and Android based phones and tablets, which will change the way people search for properties in the 30A, South Walton and Destin areas. The new app features “Home Spotter” technology – a GPS-based system that allows users to point their smart phone at a listed property to see a brief description and pricing info. The new mobile app can be most useful for clients wanting to review properties on their own. After downloading the free app, one can set their preferred agent, to make it easy to deal with only one Realtor for all properties of interest. With a tap on the screen, users can view complete listings, including scrolling photos, then they can call their preferred PPG Realtor or request a showing. The “Home Spotter” feature is ideal for interested buyers to learn about properties on their own while walking through beach neighborhoods where “For Sale” signs are not allowed. One can easily register then save properties or mark his or her favorites, or email it to someone.
The app also helps The Premier Property Group be a little more green for a healthier environment, requiring much less paper wasted on printed listings. Clients can download the app before going to look at property with their PPG Realtor. Then, while touring the property, clients can refer to the listing information in the app for details or reminders on price, square footage, year built, or look at the satellite map to see the layout of the neighborhood. To be even more green, the PPG is now storing office files digitally. Not only does this make it better for the environment, but it also makes it much faster to find and access files for our clients who request a copy.
In addition to the app launch, The Premier Property Group also has a new blog, Home on 30A, which features information about South Walton’s creative coastal lifestyle. We also have another green item of interest, an E-newsletter, to which anyone can subscribe to receive information about the life in South Walton. Whether it’s a new recipe inspired by a local chef, a cool product made here, a small business offering, a new take on an old idea, or an interesting person, Home on 30A and the E-newsletter are the best windows into authentic coastal living on Northwest Florida’s legendary Scenic Highway 30A.
For the last ten years, the Seaside Neighborhood School has held a half marathon & 5K, and it has grown quite a bit from the first race. The race entries are sold out well in advance, as people come to Seaside during March to enjoy the usually mild weather, raise money for the school, and challenge themselves physically. Some who enter the race are walkers, never having run a 5K before. Others are triathletes who are just out for a 13.1 mile training run, like The Premier Property Group‘s very own, Matt McGuire, who loves the excitement of a race. Less than two weeks ago, Matt competed in the Blue Water Duathalon, and yesterday, he was back home on 30A, running in his favorite race. Matt says that he isn’t in competition against the other racers, but instead, just trying to beat his time from last year. “It’s easy to get wrapped up in running someone else’s race, instead of running your own race,” says McGuire, “so I focus on improving myself.”
Matt finished the half marathon in the top 5% overall, very impressive for a field of 2122 runners! McGuire’s race philosophy paid off, as he set a new personal record for the Seaside School Half Marathon. In his age group Matt placed 12th, seven places higher than last year.
Congratulations to all the runners who entered the race & challenged themselves for a great cause, supporting the Seaside Neighborhood School.
When he isn’t competing in races, you can find Matt selling real estate in the WaterColor office of The Premier Property Group. Please visit Explore30A.com for the race results.
On 256 acres of rolling dunes situated along Scenic Hwy 30A, WaterSound Beach offers a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The beauty of the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico, the distinctive flora and fauna that surrounds Camp Creek Coastal Dune Lake, and the sugar white quartz sand beaches and dunes are exquisite features of this charming beach neighborhood which is accented by wide wooden pathways and bridges that wander throughout these natural surroundings. Bordering WaterSound Beach to the west, you will find Deer Lake State Park, one of several Florida State Parks located along the beaches of South Walton. At the main entrance, be sure to stop by Fen’s Gourmet Cafe & Market. More restaurants, specialty shops and art galleries for which this stretch of the Gulf Coast have become known, are only a bike ride away.

If you really know 30A, you’ve probably danced the night away to the music of Geoff McBride at the Old Florida Fish House in Seagrove. Now at First Note Music Hall located in Blue Mountain Beach, you can hear who the rest of the nation is hearing when they tune into NBC’s The Voice on Monday nights.
Since the show is recorded six months in advance, Geoff is now back home on 30A after a wild ride and we are waiting with bated breath to see if he makes it all the way. Regardless of whether or not he makes it to the end of The Voice, he has made it to the top on our charts. In the meantime, stop by First Note Music Hall when Geoff is playing and hear one of the many reasons PPG loves Geoff McBride, and see why PPG loves Blue Mountain Beach, and 30A.
Want to hear a sample of why we love Geoff? Just watch the video from NBC’s The Voice, blind auditions. Go Team Xtina (Christina Aguilera), and more importantly, Go Geoff McBride!
The sleepy beach neighborhood of Seagrove now has more to offer in the way of shops and dining, all within walking distance from most anywhere in Seagrove. Joining Cowgirl Kitchen, the most recent opening is 723 Whiskey Bravo, a restaurant with roof-top bar, which is currently open for lunch and dinner. Opening soon will be COAST and Big Mama’s Hula Girl Gallery. Be sure to follow Home on 30A to learn when these other shops open.
